Pay with crypto or card on IMPT swarm
Three payment routes for IMPT bookings: Stripe card, IMPT token via the IMPT Visa card, or any major method. Carbon offset is identical on all.
Three ways to pay for an IMPT swarm booking. The carbon retirement is identical regardless of payment method — 1 tonne, on-chain, every booking.
1. Standard card via Stripe
The default. Visa, Mastercard, Amex, plus regional methods — Apple Pay, Google Pay, iDEAL, Bancontact, Klarna where applicable. The swarm's payments layer is Stripe; you get standard PCI-DSS protection, 3-D Secure where required, and instant confirmation. No card surcharge.
2. IMPT token Visa card
For travellers holding the IMPT token, the IMPT Visa card lets you spend the token at any merchant that accepts Visa — including, of course, IMPT swarm bookings themselves. The card converts at point of sale; you spend in the local fiat currency the merchant invoices in. There is no special "crypto checkout" — the merchant sees a Visa transaction.
3. Mastercard / Visa direct
A traditional debit or credit card on Mastercard or Visa works the same way as the Stripe path — it is processed through Stripe under the hood. Most travellers don't need to think about which network; the swarm picks the cheapest reliable processing route automatically.
Refunds and cancellations
If your booking is cancelled within the hotel's free-cancellation window, the refund returns to the original payment method, in the original currency. The on-chain carbon retirement is not reversed — that tonne stays retired. We absorb that small loss; we'd rather over-retire than try to "un-retire" credits, which would undermine the whole audit story.
Currency and FX
The swarm displays prices in your detected currency by default; you can switch to the hotel's billing currency at any time. FX is at interbank rates plus a small spread. The IMPT Visa card uses Visa's wholesale FX, which is typically tighter than a card-issuer's retail rate.

Is the IMPT token volatile?
All crypto tokens carry volatility. The IMPT Visa card lets you spend at the moment of purchase, so you set the exchange rate at the till — you are not exposed to overnight token swings on a confirmed booking.
Can I pay with USDC or Bitcoin?
Indirectly via the IMPT Visa card route. Direct stablecoin checkout is on the roadmap but not live in the consumer flow yet.
Are there crypto-related KYC requirements?
Standard card payments require no extra KYC. The IMPT Visa card itself goes through normal card-issuer KYC, the same as any other Visa product.
Will I lose the carbon offset if I'm refunded?
No — the offset stays retired. We never reverse a retirement. If anything, you got a stay you didn't take and a tonne of CO₂ retired anyway, which is a small win for the planet.
